FLDOE Spring 2021

Kid Wearing Cap.png  IMPORTANT:  If you had made a choice to return to your assigned traditional face to face setting or Home Connect, please be sure to keep in contact with your assigned brick-and-mortar school. Students who chose to return to face-to-face learning and were previously enrolled in Lee Virtual School have been returned to their respective physical schools.

[February 1, 2021 Update]
Those families who missed any and all of the deadlines for returning to face-to-face instruction should now go to the Lee County School District's STUDENT ENROLLMENT PAGES for information about returning to in-person school (including Lee Home Connect). Direct requests to return to Face-to-Face school (including Lee Home Connect) may also be emailed to [email protected] and the district will then contact families about their options.

[December 1, 2020]

Dear FLVS Families,

On November 30th, the Commissioner of Education extended his executive order allowing for the district to continue offering online learning opportunities during the second semester.  One of the requirements of this order mandates that we inform parents and guardians of those students who are not making adequate progress and encourage them to return to Face-to-Face (or Brick-and-Mortar) learning for the second semester.

Not making adequate progress is defined as:

  • Not on track for “on time” graduation, and/or...

  • Credit deficient, and/or...

  • D or F in a course for quarter 1 and/or quarter 2, and/or...

  • Has 7 or more unexcused absences in a class/classes or 7 or more unexcused full days

Please know, due to the executive order, that if any student is failing and wishes not to return to face to face instruction, then the parent/guardian must complete a waiver form stating they wish to keep their student in virtual school. However, if we at LVS AND the parent agree that the student is not being successful in one (or more) of their virtual classes, then we feel the instructional model of learning virtually may not be the best instructional option for your student. Furthermore, it is in this academic setting that the district would highly suggest your child return to face-to-face instruction at their brick-and-mortar school location for next semester in order to finish out their school year as successfully as possible.

Please know that if a student is struggling with virtual learning that the School District of Lee County recommends that your child return to face-to-face instruction beginning on February 1, 2021 to receive additional targeted interventions and support so they don’t fall further behind.

Your choice of model and information is due to the Lee County School District offices no later than Sunday, December 13th

Our main question to the parent / guardian of a virtual learning student
Question: Do you think it will be best to send your student back to in person learning?

You may also receive a call from one of the LVS staff to offer any guidance in completing your online form of choice.
