Make it happen!

Where do you want to be in 10 years?  How do you plan to make it happen?
Where do you want to be in 5 years?  How do you plan to make it happen?
Where do you want to be in 2 years?  How do you plan to make it happen?
What are you doing now to ensure all of this will happen?

So, soon you will be a high school graduate.  Congratulations!  What will you do now?  It is pretty normal to not be sure of your future plans.

  • Will you go to a post-secondary institution (technical school, state college, state university)?
  • Will you join the armed forces?
  • Will you enter the world of work?
  • How do you decide?

It is never too early to start the discussion and begin exploring your options.

  1. Go school shopping.  No matter your age/grade, if you are considering a post-secondary institution, walk the campus and talk with students/staff.  Sure, the Internet has a lot of great information but you need to visit the site and make sure you feel comfortable there.

  2. Consider the various majors.  Certificate?  Bachelor's?  Master's?  Doctorate?

  3. Attend multiple college open houses and College Night at Harborside Event Center.

  4. Concerned about the price tag?  Post-secondary institutions can be pricey.  Make appointments with financial aid offices and discuss your options.  You'll be surprised to learn about various scholarships and grants that can make school affordable.  And attend Financial Aid Nights. They are free of charge and held at the local Lee County High Schools.  No RSVP is required and you can attend as many as you need.

  5. Ask questions!
